New Post: sharepoint 2013 compatibility

I got this to work . For those who want to know Here are the steps

Install Visual studio 2013 along with Office Developer tools as per zimmergren's blog at http://zimmergren.net/technical/upgrading-your-sharepoint-2010-visual-studio-projects-and-solutions-to-sharepoint-2013
Download the sourcecode for SpRibbon project from codeplex site at https://spribbonvisibility.codeplex.com/SourceControl/latest
Unzip the folder and open the C++ projetc file .
You will be asked to convert the project to sharepoint 2013.
Click yes , this will do most of teh stuff
Now open the solution explorer go to control templates> "Ribbon Visibility.ascx " chnage version from 14.0.0.0 to 15.0.0.0
go to layouts > RibbonVisibility.aspx , change sharepoint version from 14.0.0.0 to 15.0.0.0
Now go to Build > Rebuild solution . Check for errors
Build> Publish , Publish to solution .

I have Spribbon deployed in current 2010 farm . I am planning to upgrade to sharepoint 2013. Are you planning to upgrade solution to 2013 ? What are steps for upgrading this solution to sharepoint 2013. I have Visual studio 2012 with office developer tools installed. Any information about the paths that needs to be updated will be helpful .

Can you add this feature in the Administrator UI? every time i add the line it tells me that the page cannot load the ID key.

Will be nice something like:

This project is awesome, i think this small add will make it perfect.

I have tried both of the listed methods to install the ConsultPoint.SharePoint.RibbonVisibility.wsp but keep getting a SharePoint Foundation Error with Event ID: 6759. The description is
"The Execute method of job definition "SPSolutionDeploymentJobDefinition" (id "5521ecfd-fe2f-49fe-a15e-c5d7ee9e18d0") threw an exception. Error: Cannot add the specified assembly to the global assembly cache: ConsultPoint.SharePoint.RibbonVisibility.dll."

Any ideas how to get this to install? I am logged in as administrator and have tried logging in as a SP administrator as well as running the PowerShell as Administrator. Same thing every time.

Thank you, but I have modified my project as described below to fix 2 problems :

1. There was some flickering on the ribbon showing for a fraction of seconds

2. Removed the problematic reference to JQuery (in our case we cannot use $)

In RibbonVisibility.ascx the only contents is now :

<SharePoint:CssLink runat="server" ID="cssLinkRibbonVisibility" />

and I modified InjectScripts() this way :

private void InjectScript(){
   var cssFile = "/_controltemplates/SPRibbonVisibility/RibbonVisibility.css";   if (_collapseFreeSpace)   cssFile = "/_controltemplates/SPRibbonVisibility/RibbonVisibility_collapsed.css";
   cssLinkRibbonVisibility.DefaultUrl = cssFile;
}

both .js files are now css files containing respectively :

   #s4-ribboncont {
       display:none;
   }

and

   #s4-ribbonrow {
       display:none;
   }

I am guessing its written for SP Server (or Foundation)? Have you tried it in SP Online?

When I install webpart and uncheck "Apply this setting for all subsites", ribbon is still missing in all subsites.

Might SP language (not english) affect this ?

Hi.

It works well for SP2010.

You can use following commands for powershell :

Add-SPSolution c:\install\ConsultPoint.SharePoint.RibbonVisibility.wsp

Install-SPSolution -Identity ConsultPoint.SharePoint.RibbonVisibility.wsp -GACDeployment

where c:\install is directory where ConsultPoint.SharePoint.RibbonVisibility.wsp file is downloaded.

SharePoint 2010 has deprecated stsadm and so the attached solution will not work. It is recommended to use powershell and I am unsure of the correct input now. Do you have the solution for this?

Also, since stsadm is now deprecated will this even work for my SharePoint Foundations 2010 installation?

A reference to an outdated version of jquery is included. We have a newer version of jquery referenced that we prefer to use. Is it possible to remove this reference, and instead include as part of the installation instructions the requirement to reference the jquery libraries?

I have some further information on this, and am experiencing the same behaviour.

If using ribbonvisibility to hide the ribbon and a list item is clicked (even if it's in a non-hyperlinked section of the row), the ribbon will change to 'list tools' tab. If the ribbon is visible this isn't a problem, but when using this modification it replaces the entire header with a big blue bar or, if using the 'hide empty space' option, it will completely remove the header altogether. This is not a particularly functional way to have the site as it effectively removes navigation across the top, and drops out a big part of the look and feel of the site.

Is there any known way to modify the behaviour of clicking inside a list so that it will not trigger this change?

I understand this is not a RibbonVisibility problem, but I hope I can find a solution here.

When the Ribbon is not visible and the user clicks on a visual web part, the header gets minimized or hidden. Is there any way to avoid that?

Having the same issue here. I did try a contributor access level ID as well as a full control access level ID and had the same results. Any update or estimation of when this will be resolved and/or a new version available?

Great solution, BTW! Just what I was looking for. So close to having this issue for us resolved...
